Is it just me, or has summer flown by? I seriously cannot believe in 3 days, my kids will go back to school. It’s been a WONDERFUL summer, but I know my kids are ready to go back to school, and reconnect with their friends and teachers. And I ready to not have to run them here, there, and EVERYWHERE…LOL
As I prepare to send my kids back to school, I am constantly trying to come up with new ideas on what to pack them for school lunch.
A year ago when I committed myself to packing my kids nutritious school lunches daily, I NEVER thought my simple idea would evolve into a creation on a blog. And I definitely never thought it would lead to me meeting some really cool people . When I first started making my kids lunches, I really had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was I wanted to pack them something healthy and fun to sustain them throughout their school day.
This was my very first bento-style lunch box
I really thought I was doing something. When my kids got home, they would tell me that their lunches were so messy and nothing remained in their containers. Talk about a DUH moment!! So then I thought I would just cover stuff with saran wrap, but my kids didn’t want to be bothered with having to unwrap stuff on a daily basis. So then I resorted to using small ziploc bag. The ziploc bags worked for awhile, but I quickly realized I was going through them way too fast. I truly needed another option.
Soon after, my girlfriend in Japan sent me a really cool Japanese bento box, which made packing lunches so much easier.
But that was until my kids started requesting items too large to place inside the small compartments. I then started searching online for other variations of bento-style lunch boxes. As luck would have it, I stumbled upon a company called Easylunchboxes. I was intrigued by how simple they looked, and loved the fact that you received 4 lunch boxes per order. Wanting to learn more about the product, I reached out to the owner of EasyLunchboxes (Kelly) via social media, and was amazed at how engaging she was to talk to. After learning more about her product, Kelly was kind enough to spend me a sample of her Easylunchboxes, and lunch bags to try out.
Here is my first lunch using the Easylunchboxes
Talk about a huge difference. I was able to pack a bit more for my girls to take to lunch, and the 3 compartments still allowed me the option of providing a good variety. Since receiving these boxes, I literally use them weekly to pack school lunches/after school snacks.
You can see my collection of EasyLunchboxes lunches here.
