I love Indian food, but rarely make it at home.  Whenever I am in the mood for really good Indian food, I visit a local Indian restaurant close to my home.  Lately, I have been wanting to make more Indian dishes at home, but often don’t have all of the necessary ingredients.   Talk about frustrating!!

Recently at my local TJMaxx store, I discovered Maya Kaimal Indian Simmer Sauces.  Upon reading the labels, I loved that the sauces were made from all natural ingredients.  If you haven’t noticed, I am a BIG fan of products that only use all-natural ingredients.

Maya Kaimal

Maya Kaimal Indian Simmer Sauces are made from all-natural, slow-roasted, authentic Indian recipes from Maya herself, an award-winning cookbook author. Their glass jar all natural sauces have a shelf life of 2 years, and contain no artificial colors, flavors, stabilizers, or fillers. Maya Kaimal relies on natural acidifiers like lemon, tamarind, and vinegar and a hot-filling process to achieve their products 2 year shelf life. All of their sauces are gluten-free, and vegetarian. However, meat can be added to any of their sauces.

Maya Kaimal was kind enough to send me free samples of their products to try and review.  Since I love Indian food so much, I could not wait to try.

Kashmiri Chicken Curry

The first sauce I used was the kashmiri curry sauce. This sauce has a tomato flavor with hints of nutmegs and other spices. I decided to make a chicken curry using this sauce. All I had to do was lightly season my chicken with salt/pepper (if desired), and saute’ in a little oil. Once cooked, I added the sauce and allowed it to simmer for 15 minutes. After the dish was done, I served with rice and naan bread. I loved how easy the dish was to create, and its authentic flavor. The dish truly tasted like a dish purchased at an Indian restaurant.

Tiki Masala Shrimp

The next sauce used was the tiki masala sauce. This sauce has a tangy flavor, with hints of ginger and cilantro, as well as other indian spices. I decided to make a shrimp dish using this sauce. Once again, I lightly seasoned the shrimp with a little salt/pepper (if desired), and sauteed in a little oil. When shrimp was half way cooked, I removed from pan and set aside. I then added sauce to the pan and simmered on low-med heat. Once sauce was hot, I added shrimp to pan and allowed to simmer until shrimp was completely cooked. Once done I serve dish with rice and naan bread.

Tiki Masala Shrimp 2

Overall, I absolutely love the authentic taste of Maya Kaimal Indian Simmer Sauces. The sauces taste fresh, are not overly spicy, and taste great on meat, seafood, or vegetables. I just love that. I have told EVERYONE I know about these sauces, because they are that good!!
