I love teriyaki hamburgers.  It’s truly one of my favorite dishes that I discovered while living in Japan.  These hamburgers are so simple to make, yet packed with a ton of flavor.

Japanese Teriyaki Hamburger

I make this dish every few weeks, and my family is always so excited whenever I make it.

You form the burger patties, brown in a saute pan with a little butter, then place in a 425 degree oven to finish cooking. Once cooked add teriyaki sauce, and allow to simmer before serving.

This homemade teriyaki sauce, is AMAZING.  I will never buy teriyaki sauce again!!

Just pour it on!!

Garnish with some sesame seeds

Eating this teriyaki burger with sticky white rice is a must!!

Time to dig in!!

Place some reserved teriyaki sauce in a bowl, and use it as a dipping sauce.

Savoring every bite!!

I love seaweed and sesame seeds sprinkled onto my white rice…YUM!!

Japanese Teriyaki Burger

2 1/2 tbsp panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup whole milk
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1/2 cup chopped yellow onions
1 egg (whisked)
1/2 tbsp butter
teriyaki sauce

Teriyaki Sauce

1 cup mirin
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 1/2-2 tbsp superfine sugar

Place panko breadcrumbs in a small bowl and add milk. Set aside and allow breadcrumbs to soften.

In a large bowl combine beef, pork, onions, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, and salt/pepper. Use your hands to mix well. Mix will be sticky.

Tip: Place small saute pan on med heat, once hot, add a small amount of mix into the pan and cook. Once cook taste to see if more salt/pepper seasoning is needed. This is a great way to adjust your seasonings before cooking your burgers.

Divide mixture and shape into 12 hamburger patties.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Place large saute pan (oven safe) over medium heat and add butter. Once butter is melted add burgers. I was able to add 6 burgers into my saute pan, and I froze the remaining 6 burgers for later use.

Brown burgers on both sides, then place oven safe pan into preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until burgers are thoroughly cooked.

While burgers are cooking, place teriyaki ingredients into a small pot and simmer for about 3-5 minutes.

Once burgers are done, pour some of the teriyaki sauce over cooked burgers and allow to simmer on medium heat for about 5 minutes.

Serve with sticky white rice and vegetables.
