Pasta with some type of sauce is a weekly staple in my house. Normally I make some type of tomato based sauce to go along with my pasta. Last week, I pondered between making a simple meat sauce, or homemade meatballs. My kids really don’t have a preference, so the decision was purely mine to make. Since most of my dinner meals are packed for lunch the next day, I decided to make meatballs, and pack little meatball skewers for lunch.
In my kids Lunchbots Duo I packed pasta, homemade marinara sauce, and homemade meatball skewers. I also packed a side of mixed berries to complete the meal.
Here is how you make my homemade meatballs:
1/2 lb ground pork
1 lb ground beef
2 Tbsp The Gourmet Collection Oregano Basil & Tomato Spice Blend
1 Tbsp dried parsley
1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
1 tsp Lawry’s garlic salt
1/2 tsp onion powder
salt/pepepr (to taste)
In a bowl add all ingredients. Using hands, mix until everything is well combined. Once done, form mini meatballs and place in a greased baking dish.
Place in a preheated 375 degree oven and bake until meatballs are thoroughly cooked. Once done remove from oven and serve with pasta and marinara sauce.
2 14oz cans crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp The Gourmet Collection Oregano Basil & Tomato Spice Blend
2 tsp Lawry’s garlic salt
1 tsp onion powder
3 Tbsp maple syrup
Place all ingredient in a pot and place on med heat. Stir and allow to simmer until flavors are well incorporated. Adjust flavors to your liking.
